Jack-O-Lanterns!

To end our whirlwind weekend we carved pumpkins with Potter and Sid last night....

Gettin' the gunk out!

Taking a break...

Potter & Sid showing off their handy work

Our handy work! Anyone surprised that Grant's was football related? He is going to be so bummed when college football is over!

Pumpkin Patch!

Grant and I have been meaning to make it to the pumpkin patch for the past few weeks and haven't made it. In the end we were happy we waited so long, because when we went yesterday morning the weather was AMAZING! We went to this place called Lone Pine Farms and it was awesome. They had a HUGE pumpkin patch, a corn maze, lots of animals, fresh fruit and veggies, and AMAZING kettle corn.

Grant tried to push me in the wheelbarrow...lasted about two minutes (hmmm maybe I should be going to the gym more?)

Grant searching for the perfect pumpkin...

I thought this one looked really cool...

Happy Halloween

Potter and Sid threw a fabulous Halloween Party on Saturday night. They had such an awesome set up...tons of decorations, drinks, a keg, and my favorite candy and chips!

A few weeks ago Grant and I had ordered Spartan Cheerleader costumes online, but when they came we realized there was NO WAY we were paying as much as we had for something so cheap looking. We had to scramble at the last minute to come up with something else.

We decided to go as Jack and Jill...you know...Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water, Jack fell down and broke his crown...

After Jack & Jill fell down the hill..

Officer Sid coming onto Potter the sexy Hula Dancer...

Donna threatened not to dress up, but true to Pellinger form she couldn't resist the chance to be in costume. Donna was ninja warrior and Tom so funny as the Grim Rapper (complete with dollar store bling!)

Ducks 24 USC 17!!!

We haven't had much to post lately, but we had quite the fun and bloggable weekend so here goes...

Saturday we watched the most intense match up Autzen Stadium has ever seen! It was a great game and we had a blast! Can you believe the weather???

Enjoying the chill time before the game. Later Donna got into it with some ridiculously drunk undergrads, but everyone still had fun!

Sid with BEAUTIFUL gold hair!

VICTORY! I seriously think this might have made Grant's year!

Our first WINNING duck game together....(see how many people rushed the field?!)

Best Shirt Slogan of the game "Our Dixon Your Booty" hahaha get it??

Wedding Cake!!!

We've been debating about what to do for a wedding cake. We originally were going to make 150 cupcakes, but then I thought it would be weird to try to cut one of those. My newest idea is to try to make a cake to feed about 50 people and make 100 cupcakes. This would still keep it cheap, give me the opportunity to learn to make cakes, and we will have something to cut! SO... today was the first try! My wonderful bridesmaid Lindsey is in town this weekend and I couldn't have done it without her.

These are the cakes for the top layer in the oven...

We had lots of issues with this buttercream...but it looked pretty!

Whip it Lindsey!!!

There are lots of terms unique to cake decorating... Here is the 'crumb coat' for the top layer

Crumb coat for the other layer

I want the cake to have a basketweave pattern...here is our first attempt at actually doing it...not nearly as hard as we thought. It would have been even better with firmer icing!

Here is the final product! Definitely a much more successful attempt than we expected! Our next attempt will mostly focus on the frosting (it was really runny and didn't have enough flavor), but we are pretty impressed!

Autumn

Autumn is my favorite time of year on campus but I'm never there anymore...so Grant and I took an evening stroll to get my fill of the changing leaves.

Sorry this one is the wrong way...I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it to save the rotated version. I love my mac EXCEPT for its photo program!

Hope this finds everyone well!

Wedding Photographer...Finally!

We finally decided last night on a wedding photographer! You'd think the hardest decision of the wedding would be where to have it or what the dress would look like...but no not for me! I think it was a combination of the fact that I LOVE pictures so this is very important to me and the fact that it is more money that I have paid for anything in my life!! I've been endlessly worrying about choosing the wrong person and finally bit the bullet and decided!

Lauren Brooks Photography Check out their site...I think they take awesome pictures and I'm excited to have one more thing checked off the list!

The Ducks, BWong, and other fun...

We had a fun packed weekend with Brett in town! We've done lots of socializing, but the main outing of our weekend was the Duck v. Cal game. We got up to be at our tailgate spot at 7:30am and headed directly over to see ESPN's Game Day be shot outside of Autzen.

Grant and I realized last week that we had never been to a game together...we took a LOT of pictures!

After Game Day we headed back to our spot to down a few more beers and brats before the game.

Then we headed to the game...filled with lots of ups and downs, but in the end it was at the very least a good football game.

The rest of the weekend we mostly recovered from our long Saturday. We went over to visit the Swayne's yesterday...we watched a football game and ordered some pizza. It was so fun to see Sydney again! Brett was particularly amazed by the fact that she pooped (loudly) three times while we were there.
