yay for spring...

janelle and jack came down this past weekend... we ran some errands and hung out...it was nice.

one of the things i needed to do was get g's mom her bday present. she asked for herb starts so janelle, jack, and i headed to Down to Earth to get some herbs for kay. janelle and i got all caught up in it and bought stuff for ourselves as well. i figured if i can't follow in kelly mccaleb's footsteps this year (we don't have enough sun on our porch)... i'll garden on a smaller scale...

we immediately went home and planted (as you can see it was a beautiful day)...

my organized and too symmetrical porch... couldn't find a way i liked them all arranged.. still working on it. we got cilantro, basil, parsley and a few flowers for some color.

kay's little gift. we brought it to her at the hospital a few days early... she loved it! see that card? get excited to see more of them!

cupcakes

a few weeks ago donna asked me to help her make some UO themed cupcakes for the annual library tea at the university.

she wanted to make the symbolic O that is the university's current trademark. i fretted for a while about how we could do that. and thanks to google reader and bakerella (p.s. she is AMAZING and i want to make everything she posts on her site... she makes it all seem SO easy!) we found the PERFECT technique a few days before we were set to meet.

donna also got some duck molds...aren't they awesome?

i made a few flowers and party hats for kendra's birthday (more on that later)....aren't they too cute?

i'm back... i think....and some help!

i've gotten a few emails asking if I'm ok since I haven't posted much lately. I'm fine... just UBER busy lately. I seriously feel like we're both struggling to find time to breathe. I'm sure we aren't the only ones...it was just so weird how quickly things picked up. doesn't help that work is incredibly busy and there are about ten billion things to do for the wedding. Speaking of that... you know our wedding website? i don't know if i've really raved about mywedding.com, but SERIOUSLY everything on that site is free. Comparable wedding websites cost at least $25 a month and the only thing that they offer is a little bit more customization in the way the site looks. a few weeks ago they added the ability to upload songs and today i got an email saying that we could also add a blog to our wedding website for FREE. I think I will start posting wedding stuff in both places. They also added new options for looks... and i'm having a hard time deciding.... which do you like better? vote in the upper right hand corner of the window...

option 1 (currently up there) - Fall Romance

option 2 - Trellis (in apricot)

keep in mind our save the dates... neither of these ties in well, but i just need help deciding

settling in

i think we are finally settled back in to our life... at least as much as we can with all that the next 8 months will bring (read: stress from a wedding, finishing a PhD, and moving across the world) eeeekkkk....

this weekend was fun and pretty productive. we didn't spend much time together cuz G had several studies, but lindsey was in town and we worked on some wedding craftiness. i SOOO wish i could share it, but i want there to be some surprises. anyway... just so you know we are very impressed with ourselves! i also finally booked a dj and am slowly getting some of the details worked out. still SO much to do though...

the rest of my weekend was spent cleaning our apartment from top to bottom....FELT so good. it took 2.5 hours, but it feels like we can actually relax now. (i am never fully relaxed when there is a ring in the toilet and piles of laundry to be folded.)

no other exciting news... i just felt like i needed to post something. OH... i found a quilt shop in town and they have classes for cheap. I know i could figure it out on my own, but I think a class would be fun and less effort. I also really want to get into embroidery... there has been lots of inspiration on some blogs i read. like this....i mean i dont think i'll ever be that good, but aren't those amazing??? (i also want to read her book so... looks inspiring for when we have kids someday....)

oh... and pretty soon i'm going to put together a google calendar that will be posted on this blog for people to see who will be visiting when while we are in france and where we'll be traveling to. hopefully we'll have LOTS of you coming!
