chia!

i LOVE kelly mccaleb's blog - she is candid and crafty and stuff. she posts about food sometimes and i usually always like what she recommends. recently she posted about chia seeds - it totally peaked my interest. the following week a new grocery store opened and i happened to see them in the bulk foods - bought some and have been throwing them in stuff ever since. everyone keeps asking me why they are good - i couldn't remember. ha! grant keeps asking, 'should i put this hippy stuff in my oatmeal?' ummm yea you should kelly said so!

anyway. i looked it up to remember and they are AWESOME! omega 3's, calcium, antioxidants, and TONS of fiber. plus they are super cool because you don't have to grind them to get the benefits (like flax seeds). they don't taste like anything to me and i've been eating them quite a bit (though you have to check your teeth after...). i like the idea of thoughtlessly being able to eat something so good for me. i'm gonna start adding other seeds too. like ALL the ones from this article thing...

granola and ish

no we haven't died, but yes we are totally boring and therefore have nothing new to report. we did have one really exciting few days about two weeks ago when we found out that our car is a piece of **it forcing us to buy a new one or go a MISSOURI SUMMER without air conditioning. sooooo.not.happening.

the next day we found out the fabulous financial aid folks here neglected to inform me that we are ineligible to receive summer loan money. SWEET - lets spend $25,000 on a new car AND $3,500 on tuition THAT WE DON'T HAVE. if we never give our parents grandchildren you can blame the woman who sold us that F-ing car and the oh so generous University of Missouri...

really though...i'm sure it will all work out. sometimes i just wish we could receive one, JUST ONE, financial break.

on to the reason i actually came to post... GRANOLA!

This stuff is the bomb and is SO easy (really it is...its called EASY granola). i only had to buy coconut and pepitas because everything else is stuff we keep in the pantry. i don't think i will ever be buying granola again - i like this because it is sweet, but not overpowering - i can't stand it when things are too sweet. now i just need to find a yogurt that is healthy, and not just pretending to be.

as i re-read this post i think it might be evident that i have spent the past several days alone with the dog...

olive + apple = love

i know this blog has become devoted to our dog...but here is yet another Olive post. we love her too much and are too busy to do anything else exciting to share.

yesterday Olive and I hung out in the backyard and shared an apple...it was a special treat to make a puppy mama feel less guilty about sending her baby to be spayed.

see those wrinkles there under her chin?? i ADORE them!
and do you like her new collar?? she has had it for a few weeks and i heart it..got it here from etsy.

see all that lush green grass (really they are weeds, but we'll call 'em grass)?? makes me so happy to see the brown slowly dissipate!

poor girl had a rough week with a UTI diagnosis and a ovariohysterectomy! she seems to be doing ok - I think Grant and I are more traumatized than she is. happy weekend y'all!

i heart home

i heart this video - it encompasses many of the reasons we miss home...can't wait to get back!
