a little piece of oregon

its been a few years since i've been a constant consumer of tillamook cheese. it always seemed like it was too expensive, but i grew up on it. a few weeks ago while strolling through sam's club we were shocked to see it in the dairy case. it was way cheaper than most of the cheese here and we knew it would taste better. plus we'd be supporting the oregon economy. it was no question what the best decision was so we bought it.

since then i can't stop eating it. are you aware of how much better it is than other cheese?? the past few years i've been on a colby jack kick so the cheddar was a welcome change. soo good.

are you also aware of how much better cheese tastes if you shred it yourself rather than buying the bag?? i had forgotten, but there will be no more bagged cheese in this house.

random, but i thought you should know....

It's funny how when something is local you have no idea when it's national. I knew about Tillamook before I ever moved to Oregon - and in fact said "Oh, I should check out Tillamook cause of the cheese..."

They also sell Rising Moon organic products that are based in Eugene. At least they do in Kansas City. I was excited when I realized that wasn't just local, too.

Have you ever had the Tillamook ice cream? Ooh and the sour cream is so divine I could eat it all by itself! I am in WA so I can get Tillamook everything up here.

Um, I am glad you've come back to the light. Even in my poor, college student days I have ONLY purchased Tillamook Cheddar Cheese. Sometimes, we even buy the block at Costco (it's a 5 lb. block and a huge, delicious mother f'er). Did you know they even sell it in Mexico?! We saw it on our honeymoon at grocery store... awesome.

Nicole...this is a common purchase for us too. We have friends in Oregon who got us started on this cheese 25 years ago and we are addicted. I suppose there are others that would suffice but for some reason it was like Xmas when Sams club started carrying this. Go Tillamook!
