12 weeks!

IMG_3277

Today marks us being 12 weeks pregnant! That means we are moving into the second trimester...woo hoo! The past week or two I've been more tired and sluggish than before. I'm not sure if its because I've had fewer days off between work days, but yesterday I took a three hour nap after sleeping over 9 hours the previous night! I bought a few other maternity pieces this weekend and LOVE the extra room. I bought one pair of jeans, but I'm still deciding if I want to keep them. There is only Target and Motherhood Maternity to choose from here so I might wait til I'm in Oregon with more options to shop around. Nothing else too new in the prego department. We have been talking more about names which is fun. Grant thinks every name I choose sounds like a grandma or grandpa...I say they are just classic. I think its going to be a long road to get us on the same page when it comes to names!

Our little one is getting so big! Its as big as a plum! Word is that almost all vital systems should be formed and he or she is wiggling around my uterus without my knowledge. Its looking more and more human every day and we CAN NOT wait until Thursday when we get to check in on it again. Keep your fingers and toes crossed that everything is okay in there. Its been a month since we've had an ultrasound or heard a heartbeat.

valentines 2011

IMG_3231

I keep forgetting to post these, but our Valentine's Day this year was spent the same as always... with pizza and eachother. For the girl who can't have alcohol and is SO TIRED of water, we tried italian soda. It was so delicious!

IMG_3252

We made a yummy pizza and Grant probably watched something while I slept in his lap. That's how I roll these days...sleeping any chance I can get. All in all, it was a good night.

11 weeks!

IMG_3256

Check out that belly! Can you believe I'm only 11 weeks? I keep scouring the internets to be sure that other people show early too. The belly is all sticking out there, but its still mushy and bloaty. Though, the bottom part is starting to get firm so my uterus is popping up. I'm wearing my one and only maternity shirt in this picture and its SO much more comfortable than my other clothes. Everything else is just tight in all the wrong places and I feel like I'm constantly pulling at them. I'm thinking of heading to the mall this weekend for a pair of jeans and maybe a few more shirts. I like the belly band thing, but it slips up and my pants start to fall. I feel like I'd rather just have it all connected.

I usually feel weird with the shirt up pictures, but since my belly is looking less beer-gut like, I thought this was funny. Grant kept making me laugh...lots of comments about a very small person with a giant 'belina' as he calls it. You can see how much bigger it can get when I'm pushing it out, laughing, or if I am really full...insanity! Anyway, I'm still feeling the same. I worked four days in a row this past weekend and I thought it might kill me - the fatigue and nausea really kick in working that many long days. I've been having pretty strong aversions to meat - lately. I can usually eat it once its in front of me, but it always sounds awful. I also don't think I've ever mentioned my new obsession with greek yogurt. OMG that stuff has been my savior the past few weeks. Whenever I can't seem to get full or nothing else sounds good, I go for the greek yogurt and immediately feel better. What's funny is that I HATED greek yogurt and thought it too sour before pregnancy. I can't get enough of the stuff now though!

In other news, our fetus is getting BIG! Its lime sized now! It is much more able to move its joints and jump around my uterus...though I won't be able to feel it for several more weeks. We have an ultrasound scheduled for next week and I can hardly stand the wait. I just want to be reassured that everything is okay in there and to see him or her again (Grant made fun of me for calling it a him...i just REALLY think its a boy for some reason).

So thats it! Big and almost into the second trimester!

10 weeks

IMG_3233

We have passed the embryonic stage and now have a little fetus! Doesn't that sound so advanced? I still have quite the little belly whose size directly correlates with how bloated I am. I have been using a belly band on my tighter jeans to relieve a little bit of constriction and a few of my shirts are getting uncomfortably tight. Maternity clothes might be in my very near future!

We saw the midwife today and she said everything looked good still. We were hoping to hear a heartbeat, but she couldn't find it. She said that she normally can't hear them this early with the doppler so that it was nothing to worry about. The good news is that we have another ultrasound in a few weeks! I'm really excited to get to see our little one again and people tell me that 12 week ultrasounds give you really cute profile pics...yay!

Our little fetus is about the size of a prune this week and is working hard to develop his upper arm mobility. Pregnancy has still been pretty easy on me so far. Mostly just the occasional nausea and sleeping lots at night. And I have a monstrous hunger that seems to never abate. The next few weeks we will put lots of our baby prep on hold until we get settled back in Portland...get excited to be an Oregonian, baby!

More BIG news!

We are moving back to Oregon!!!! Something I wanted SO bad and wondered if would ever happen is going to happen and SOON! Grant accepted a job at Nike World Headquarters this week and starts April 4th! We are so excited! I can't believe I will get to share this pregnancy with my family and friends and raise our baby as an Oregonian! The beach will be within reach! We can go to Duck games, we can play on Mt Hood and hike in the Gorge. I CAN NOT WAIT!

Of course, it is sad and scary too - we are leaving our little world here. We have good friends and our house and jobs we both love. But I am certain this is the best thing for our growing family and that makes it all a little easier to swallow and prepare for. I'm really hoping this is the start of us finally settling into life a bit and not constantly having to brace ourselves for another hurdle. I feel like our life has always had so many big hurdles. I'm ready for a few smaller ones and to have more local support to help us work through them.

SOOO excited!!

9 weeks

IMG_3190

Monday we hit 9 weeks pregnant, which I know is still early, but blows my mind! Thanks for all the congrats and support - we are scared out of our minds, but still super excited.

We have a little olive sized baby now - isn't that cute?! The little one is still being pretty kind to me. I mostly just feel queasy when I haven't eaten in a long time and I have some food aversions, but mostly to stuff that is really flavorful. I'm feeling more of the bland, carby things these days. I still have my little bloated baby belly - We went to a Superbowl party and everyone couldn't believe how much I had pooched out! I haven't been extremely fatigued, but just needing a bit more time to relax and lay low. The long days at work are hard, but mostly because its hard to get all the eating in I need to avoid the nausea. Nothing else too exciting to report...we aren't finding out the sex but its already killing me! I wonder so much!

The Great Blizzard of 2011

IMG_3166

Yes we were hit hard by the blizzard that racked half of the country last week. In fact we got 22 inches of snow in a matter of hours and were stuck inside for 3 days!

IMG_3152

Grant was the brave soul who did our shoveling - the snow drifts were close to four feet tall all the way from our front door to the end of the drive way! It took him over four hours to get it all cleared.

IMG_3170

My mom was here visiting from Oregon for the week - she got in on the shoveling to get out of the house for a bit.

IMG_3175

SOOO much snow huh?

Olive LOOOVES being free and running around in it all. She had so much fun.

IMG_3130

We spent most of the days inside knitting, sewing, and watching movies. It was actually really relaxing, but by the end we were definitely ready to venture out! Apparently it is supposed to snow AGAIN today, but just a few inches. I'm SO over it!
