paint, etc...

its been a ridiculously frustrating morning so i thought i would distract myself and avoid studying by showing you the result of our 3 hours spent at Lowe's this weekend....

last weekend we spent 3 hours at home depot and came home with no good leads on paint. but after talking to Alisha i learned that Martha Stewart paint was at Lowe's . i figured starting with her colors would be best and if we didn't like them then we could try something else.
true to the form Martha came through...

above is a sample room painted in the color we chose for the master bedroom/bathroom. we still plan in buying sample paints to test the colors before we take the big plunge. this is called pottery slip and we hope to use it with the colors in this inspiration room.

we think grant's office/workout room will be this same color.

(an aside... G received an award at a recent conference! it had a cash prize and since we were never able to get him anything for his graduation he got to choose whatever he wanted to buy. he has wanted a flat screen tv for MONTHS, but took the high road and chose this spinning bike in the hopes that having it will make it easier to get a workout in every morning! should be here within the week!)

this is an example of the color i chose for my craft/study room. its called seedling green. it looks a little greener on the paint chip so we'll have to see if it is just looking weird on the computer or if it actually paints up like this. i like that it is bright and soft, but not pastel. i think our guest bathroom will be this same color.

this is a sort of example of the living/dining room and kitchen colors. they look kind of off, but we'll see when we do the test paint. our couch is greenish with black under stitching, our furniture is going to be or already is a dark walnut color, and we are putting laminate floors in that look sort of like this. the darker parts in our laminate will be slightly darker than in this example...overall the floors will be a cross between the kitchen cabinets and the dining room table:
because of all the dark stuff we wanted pretty light walls. the light bluish color (freshwater aquarium) will be on most all of the walls throughout that main room and the grey (boiled wool) on the right side of the picture will be on the entry accent wall.

other than that...the laundry room is the only other room and i want that stark, clean white. not sure why, but i just like the idea of that.

what do you think? will it look ok?? i thought it would all look good until i started playing with this virtual paint thing...

here is the link to the house pictures if you need to visualize. ha!

I think the colors look great. And I have always like Lowe's better than Home Depot anyway...

Nice choice of paint colors.

We found that the paint chips and the online viewer look NOTHING like the color once you put it on the wall with a base coat. A lot of the light colors simply look like white with a HINT of color.

If you can find it, you should check out Benjamin Moore paints (may have to go to an Ace Hardware or paint store). It is a Consumer Reports recommended and best buy paint in terms of quality, color, durability, and cost. We used it for the exterior and interior.
