homeownership?

i've been on this kick lately that maybe we can afford a house in some of these potential post-doc places. according to the FHA we can! it will be something small, but our dollar will go further in the midwest than it would here. for instance in detroit (in a nice neighborhood) we could afford this little cutie...going for only $107,000

- no joke there were houses listed for under $25,000 albiet in a crappy area, but still isn't that crazy???

we are currently dreaming of a little place with puppies running around and maybe some rugrats in a year or two...

do it! we just bought our first house in March and it's wonderful! while sometimes it's a real drag to do yard work, it's nice to have something that you can truly make your own and know that your gaining equity every step of the way. as they say, homeownership is the first step to building wealth (even though it might be a strain on your wallet right now). and with the market the way it is, you'll definetly be in a better position when the market turns around and you're ready to sell!

You should definately try to do it! I hear housing in Columbia, MO is cheap! Home ownership is wonderful but has its frustrating moments too...but you get to paint the walls any color you want!

Hey Nicole did that shawl make it down to you okay? Just want to make sure it didn't get misplaced by the postman. And by the way my sister and her husband are going to the game today so have Grant keep a lookout for her...I'm sure it won't be easy with the massive crowd and her shortness but you never know. Go Ducks.
